Colombian Emerald Diamond Halo Ring 8x6mm (1.80ct)
Emerald is a gemstone and a variety of the mineral beryl coloured green by trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium. Beryl has a hardness of 7.5ā8 on the MOHs scale. Most emeralds are included, so their toughness (resistance to breakage) can be classified as poor. However, hydrothermal (HD) emeralds are less included and therefore have better resistance to breakage, they are also much cheaper than mined emeralds. Hydrothermal emeralds are often referred to as "created", as their chemical and gemological composition as well as appearance is the same as their natural counterparts but they are man-made.

The hardness of diamond and its high dispersion of light ā giving the diamond its characteristic "fire" and make it desirable as jewellery. Diamonds are such a highly traded commodity that multiple organizations have been created for grading and certifying them based on the "four Cs", which are color, cut, clarity, and carat.
Moissanite is a man-made eco-friendly stone that is more brilliant than diamond and 1/10th the price. Moissanite exhibits more fire and brilliance than any other gemstone. On the Brilliance Refractive Index, Moissanite is more brilliant than diamonds, ranging from 2.65-2.69 on the scale. On the Mohs hardness scale, Moissanite comes in second only to a diamond, measuring at 9.25. Moissanite's durability is excellent, meaning it will survive daily wear and tear.
