Colombian Emerald Basket Stud Earrings 5mm (1ctw)
Emerald is a gemstone and a variety of the mineral beryl coloured green by trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium. Beryl has a hardness of 7.5ā8 on the MOHs scale. Most emeralds are included, so their toughness (resistance to breakage) can be classified as poor, however, hydrothermal emeralds are typically less included and therefore have better resistance to breakage. Hydrothermal emeralds are also typically cheaper than mined emeralds, whereas their chemical and gemological composition as well as appearance is the same as their natural counterparts, the only difference is that they are lab-grown.
